    25 DECEMBER 2007: Christmas Break

    Literally...

My Mom broke her right ankle in 1986 and had several pins and screws inserted into it to stabilize the completely shattered joint. Doctors told her she may never walk again. Well, just a few months later she walked into the same doctor's office, much to his surprise.

Well, nearly two weeks ago she fell and broke bones in the left ankle, giving her a matched set. Once the infection is gone, surgery will take place and a tough rehab will begin. I'm sure my mom will come out okay, but it's going to be a tough few months ahead, as myself and my nephew have less-than-forgiving schedules (and living hours away doesn't help).

So, I may not be able to post much here as we wait to see what happens both in the next week and a half, and the next three months. If you want to know how mom's doing, let me know. In the meantime, below are a few photos (okay... four) of Sam from a few days before Christmas, and Christmas morning.

Hopefully, I will be able to post the annual ICRVN Year in Review soon... But I still have to write it first. So, bear with me as my focus is obviously, more importantly, elsewhere.

And of course, Merry Hannukwanzas everybody.

Sam says "Hi" to Frosty the Snowman while picking up the tree.

    Giving the tree a hug.

With the biggest gift, and one of the favorites, of the day: B-ball Hoop and Tyrone.

I swear to you that her exclamation at this moment was "It's a box! Yay!" Totally true... And completely hysterical.

    01 DECEMBER 2007: What I'm...

  • Reading: Hearty Boys, Talk With Your Mouth Full. A cookbook I gave my wife for Christmas... Yeah - it's really for us both.

  • Watching: Spongebob Squarepants. Loaned to us by my friend Sean, Sam is now very much obsessed with the omnipresent seaborne character. If you suffer from migraines like I do, the laugh is less than forgiving. Very... Odd show.

  • Listening: Timbaland, Shock Value. Seemingly everywhere and in nearly every ad these days, it's actually a pretty good cd.
